Welcome back to Wu-Wednesdays, my attempt at continuing the discourse around the Wu-Tang Clan’s mythology (read: their songs, their affiliates’ songs, those of their affiliates’ affiliates, you get it). It’s a standard thing for rappers to put their friends on if/when they manage to strike gold, but nobody’s done it to the extent that the Wu-Tang Clan has. I mean, hell, entire groups rivaling the original Clan in size have spawned in their wake just because one of the members maybe went to preschool with Ol’ Dirty Bastard or something. Drawing out a family tree would be a great exercise in futility, since there are way too many people to include and accurate information isn’t always available online, but it could still be worth attempting, which is my way of saying, if any of you two are interested in trying to trace all of this DNA out, I’d be willing to assist.
Anyway, on to this week’s episode, filled, as always, with bangers, lesser known tracks, and general buffoonery.
