For some reason it rubs me the wrong way, maybe because I find it so hard to accept how different he sounds than the glorious shit-talker from O.K. Your review makes me want to give this one a shot, so maybe I will. But as I listened, I had to pay active attention to music in order to figure out what I wanted to write. It improved my view (and enjoyment) of the album when I tried to figure out cons while I was listening and had a lot of trouble.Aryehhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15671115579176236533noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4433223770288671156.post-70594253264784375252011-12-17T12:45:02.527-06:002011-12-17T12:45:02.527-06:00definitely agree on "Assassins" which is...definitely agree on "Assassins" which is, well, literally a lyrical assassination...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4433223770288671156.post-77134177153965678412011-12-16T23:54:01.969-06:002011-12-16T23:54:01.969-06:00@djbosscrewwrecka: He's definitely more scatte...@djbosscrewwrecka: He's definitely more scattershot with his subject matter on this album. You probably noticed that I talk more about the beats and the overall feel of the songs more than I do about any of Monch's individual lyrics. There's a reason for that.Harris Shapnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4433223770288671156.post-45153985552799410142011-12-16T22:59:02.131-06:002011-12-16T22:59:02.131-06:00I love monch and really wanted to like this album,...I love monch and really wanted to like this album, but for the most part it was a miss. A few decent tracks, but nothing memorable enough to warrant repeat listens. I'd put that more on the beat selections than the lyrics, but it is what it is.... will still always check for what this dude puts out, so better luck next time, monch!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4433223770288671156.post-12722778014967715822011-12-16T19:04:05.179-06:002011-12-16T19:04:05.179-06:00Album of the year.Album of the year.F.A.T AKA FATPimPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11852235629532641469noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4433223770288671156.post-91829229392679572112011-12-16T17:31:48.893-06:002011-12-16T17:31:48.893-06:00Nice review, thanks.

The "experimental/soulful/serious/political" route he's gone down was more powerful on 'Desire'.djbosscrewwreckanoreply@blogger.com
