So here's what actually happened:
Midway through September, I contracted food poisoning or some other ridiculous shit, which meant that I became much more focused on the toilet in my bathroom (as opposed to the one in my foyer?) and not so much concerned with listening to music of any sort. When that passed, I tried to get back into the groove of writing, but I found it ridiculously fucking easy to walk away from the site for a bit.
So I had planned on running some Reader Reviews in October, just so I could have some sort of content justifying the continued existence of this URL. But that didn't really work out either: I found it impossible to find the time to edit those things down while trying to work at my non-writing day job and generally enjoying life. Which sucks, because I told some of the contributors that I had planned on running their reviews soon. Oops! Please accept this sentence as a formal apology for my laziness.
Now obviously, the blog isn't actually dead, because how absurd would it be to end a site such as mine with a review of the debut album of fucking Shyheim? I'm not exactly sure just how much longer it's going to last with this every-other-day posting schedule, either: not to knock the other sites you probably frequent, but writing all of these reviews takes a hell of a lot more time than, say, posting an artist's latest mp3. So I'm going to see where this takes us, and I thank all of you two for sticking with the site even after I posted a ridiculous bit of clip art. (My favorite response was from the anonymous commenter who channeled David Caruso from CSI: Miami.)
So here's what we're going to try. November will be devoted to one specific theme, which I don't plan on revealing right now, but it will become obscenely obvious by the third post, if not the second. Here's the thing: I'm going to stunt blog it. Every day in November will be a new post, because, well, it's been a long time, and I shouldn't have left you. The idea is that November will feature artists who have not been featured on the site as of yet, so this means that I will be blissfully ignoring new releases from the likes of Drake, Mobb Deep, and Pusha T, but I think we all know that I'll end up getting back to them eventually.
The Reader Reviews promised in October by me a few paragraphs back will now run in December, which gives me time to actually edit them down, and an extra month for you to get a submission in if interested. As always, if you have any questions, you can hit me at the e-mail address in the sidebar.
