The 1000th Post (Holy Fuck)

I actually have nothing planned for today's post except to mark it as the site's one thousandth.  One thousandth.  While that is a number I could have hit much sooner had it not been for all of those annoying hiatuses, it's still a remarkable achievement, and it's all because of you two readers, who appear to still enjoy reading my shit-talking about hip hop, pop culture, and all roads in between.

What I'm saying is, thanks for reading!  For realsies this time.

I'll be back in a few days.  Until then, please feel free to look around the site and maybe purchase some things off of your Christmas shopping list by using the Amazon links strewn throughout.

  7. Happy 1,000th post and merry X-Mas!

I discovered this blog a couple of months ago, and it's been a quasi-daily read since, although this is my first time actually posting... Even though I don't always agree 100% with you—but hey, that's part of the interest, isn't it?—I always enjoy the writing's style, tone and content a lot! Actually, it even motivated me to get cracking with my own website (an idea I'd been toying with for some time now without ever taking the leap).

Oh, and I was wondering if there might be a way to region code your Amazon affiliation so that it automatically shows the page in other countries' Amazon pages? I'm living in Japan at the moment, so I can't use your Amazon U.S. links even when I decide to buy one of the records you recommend (the delivery fees are just silly expensive).

Anyway, I'll try to comment more often from now on. Enjoy the holidays!

    1. Thanks! I'll look into the whole region code thing, since you're not the first to bring that up. Merry X-mas to you too!

Hopefully this time round you'll review at least one Immortal Technique album.

    1. I'll be honest: that isn't going to happen unless someone else writes it. Just saying...

  9. Max you rock, keep it up.

Some advice you will probably ignore:

    1. Please stop reviewing obscure Wu-Fam albums instead of famous albums from rap legends or instead of the most acclaimed (or talked about) rap albums of the year. I lose attention faster than Christ Bearer lost his dick. There's a reason they have zero comments, dude!

    2. Start a regular weekly posting schedule on a particular day of the week. Then your readers are happy because they know when to check your site, and they get content, yay. Right now people check your site randomly, which means they can easily forget about it, then remember it six months later, then forget about it again. I know you do stunt months, but that is basically the same idea but with way more work and way less reward - you have to go crazy stockpiling thirty reviews, and they're all burned up in a month.

    3. Start a YouTube channel and cross-promote that with your site. There's no reason you couldn't be the rap version of TheNeedleDrop. I know he reviews SOME rap albums, but he doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about sometimes. You could embed the videos in your reviews, and start with the most popular - most views or most commented ones - so people will find your channel when they stumble upon your site. Maybe you don't think you'd be good on camera. To which I say, is TheNeedleDrop good on camera? Really? You don't have to be Hosty McHostenson, people will watch it for your opinion, if it's well conveyed. Yeah, it'll take work, but the best-case scenario is you can build up a TheNeedleDrop-ish following, and the worst case scenario is you gave something a try.

    Peace.
