RandoMax Radio Episode #2! Also, Some Brief Site Notes

Hello! I have a couple of site updates to discuss, but first, let's focus on the side hustle.

Today marks the second episode of RandoMax Radio, the mix show-slash-podcast where I throw together whatever songs I want in an effort to help your time pass by in an entertaining fashion, whether you're driving, working, driving to work, working to drive, trying to get to work or school, cleaning your home, or selling overpriced merch in a pop-up shop. Much as I did last time, I'll put the tracklisting up eventually (the Mixcloud site now has it available for the first episode - feel free to listen again if you want to hear Young M.A. segue into Love and Rockets), but for now I urge you all to click 'play' with an open mind. There is less hip hop this time around, as I'm trying to see just how far you two will follow me into the void, but it is there, as I cannot leave rap alone, the game needs me.

And if you haven't yet heard the first episode, what are you waiting for? Anderson .Paak and The Jesus and Mary Chain have got some heat there for you.

If you click over to my Mixcloud page and subscribe, you'll even learn about the mixes I upload before I ever post anything about them here. More importantly, you'd be doing me a solid. Thanks in advance.

Now to the blog shit:

As you've noticed, 2018 is just about over, and I'm running out of Tuesdays on which to publish new posts. This year has seen much more activity on my part than the last four or five years combined, and as can be expected, I'm pretty tired and I would like to take a nap, please. But the year's not over yet, so here's what I have planned for you two for the rest of December.

Next Tuesday, December 18, will feature the return of a blog series I've wanted to bring back for several years, except now in a format I think will facilitate both discussion and engagement. Interestingly enough, resurrecting this series was one of the main reasons I wanted to start doing these mix show/podcasts in the first place. It's still an experiment, but if it works, I have some plans for it, so be on the lookout for that, and please listen to the mix, leave comments, suggestions, just generally let me know what you like and don't like about it. I promise I'll care just this once.

The following Tuesday, December 25, is the last one of the year, so as an offhanded way of celebrating Christmas (or, if you don't recognize that specific holiday, whichever you prefer, or you can choose to look at the day as just another Tuesday, it's cool), I'm going to run another stunt-ish event. I'm not giving many details until the day of, but just know it will involve multiple posts throughout the day, and you're going to like them. That's pure speculation on my part, but I have a good feeling about these write-ups.

You can leave your guesses as to the theme of those December 25th posts, and you'll probably be correct, but I won't confirm or deny anything. Until then, enjoy the holiday season, and listen to the fucking episode! It'll help you stay in a good mood as you're escaping from your family by driving to the furthest pub from their home.

UPDATE: Here is the complete playlist for the second episode of RandoMax. Now that you're in on the secret, listen to it again so you can appreciate how the mix works a hell of a lot better than you think. Also, marvel at how it took a whole two episodes for me to throw in The Smiths. Such restraint is unparalleled within this industry.

Any chance this is "Producers Guild," which ran one post in October 2008?

  2. Max you are an American hero and I do not say this in jest. You approved a reader review back for me in 2015, and I finished half of it back then. I'd like to finish what I started. I will email it over to you upon completion. Your work on this blog is unreal. You have the work ethic of Roc Marciano. Take that as a compliment please. Also looking forward to what you have in store for Xmas. Cheers mate!

    1. Max, I don't use the word "hero" very often, but you are the greatest hero in American history.
