RandoMax Radio Presents: Wu-Wednesday #17

This week on RandoMax Radio’s Wu-Wednesdays, the limited series that could go on forever, probably, but won’t, because we all have our breaking points, we’re handling things a bit differently. While today’s episode still celebrates the Wu-Tang Clan and their broad influence over a sizeable chunk of our chosen culture, this week we’ll explore that concept through the eyes of outsiders. You see, the Wu’s sound couldn’t have strictly been limited to just the Clan and their myriad affiliates, weed carriers, and stunt doubles – no, that would have been far too limiting in scope for what The RZA had originally envisioned. So, obviously, the producers within the crew broke out and offered up their wares for rappers outside of their immediate circle, supplying their peers with the Shaolin boom bap sound that the Wu remains known for today (even though absolutely nothing RZA touches these days sounds even close to how his beats used to work, but that’s growth fucking with you).

So as not to make this a stealth Producers Guild episode, the ten tracks presented today come from three producers within the Wu camp: Bronze Nazareth, True Master, and RZA himself. Look, you both are all intelligent, inquisitive, beautiful readers, so you’ve probably heard some of these songs before, but sometimes it’s good to reconnect with old friends, especially when said friends bring with them artists such as KRS-One, Cypress Hill, and the late Big Punisher, among others. Some of the actual Wu members could also drop by with cameos, which sounds fun, doesn’t it?

A reminder: the first nine episodes may not appear on the Mixcloud site, but the songs from each (those that are available, anyway) live on the RandoMax Radio Spotify channel, with tracks from the older episodes being added as they get removed. Give it a look when you get a chance – every like and follow helps me out tremendously.

Enjoy!

-Max
