We’ve been at this Wu-Wednesdays miniseries for more than half of a year now, and there are still several avenues I’d like to explore, but realistically I won’t be able to traverse them all. But fuck the future, because today we get a themed episode! This week is all about how the Wu-Tang Clan’s own Method Man quietly claimed the title of Cameo King within our chosen genre, usurping the likes of Canibus, Busta Rhymes, and the late DMX, and has yet to show a single sign of relinquishing the crown. Low key, Method Man has become the go-to guy for a cameo whenever you need grimy shit-talk presented over an unnervingly dark instrumental, usually with discordant keys for whatever reason, and what’s more, he doesn’t even fucking curse these days when he does it, a choice he made just to challenge his own pen, which I can respect.
Anyway, Meth is the man, and here is but a small selection of cameos from the world of hip hop, featuring other non-Wu artists you probably already enjoy listening to.
Wondering what happened to the earlier episodes of Wu-Wednesdays? They’ve been removed from the Mixcloud site as a way to free up space, but the songs themselves reside over on the RandoMax Radio Spotify channel, with tracks (the available ones, anyway) being added to the playlist as they get taken down elsewhere.
