Diversionary Tactics: Randomness Edition

A public service for the blogging community: I Hook A Beat Up's weekly contests have moved to http://www.ihabu.com/, a fact that I fear many readers may not have been aware of, since only six people submitted entries last week, although that is up from the four from the previous round. Come for the beats, and stay for the comments from the panel, made up of some of your favorite bloggers, some of the beatmakers themselves, and some guy named Max.

Until the next post, here are some videos that I post for your viewing pleasure for absolutely no reason:

"Respiration" by Black Star (Mos Def & Talib Kweli) feat. Common, which is easily the best song from Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star:

"Headbanger" by EPMD feat. K-Solo and Redman - Not Redman's debut, but fucking flames regardless:

"Book Of The Month" by Lovage (Dan "The Automator" Nakamura, Mike Patton, & Jennifer Charles) - I never knew they shot a video for this song, but my wife loves this track, so there you go. It helps that The Automator is in my top five list of hip hop producers, a fact that isn't muddied by the fact that he usually doesn't actually produce hip hop:

The red-band trailer for The Foot Fist Way, starring Danny McBride, who fucking kills in Pineapple Express. This was the film he made with some of his friends that caught on like herpes in Hollywood and is finally getting released this summer:

The trailer for The Signal, an indie horror flick I caught up in Austin a few months ago that didn't hit many major markets. It hits the DVD shelves soon, and I recommend it highly:

A film clip from Shark Attack 3: Megalodon, which is in the running for Worst Movie Ever Made, or at least Most Terribly Overdubbed. The following clip features one of the most hilarious lines to ever make it into the final edit, and every time I see it, the filmmaker inside of me is slightly reborn:

And finally, in honor of Control hitting store shelves pretty soon, here's the video for "Atmosphere" by Joy Division, which was released several years after the passing of Ian Curtis:

COMING SOON: More write-ups and random shit, with something special, updates-wise, planned for the month of July. You wanna see it happen? Then let's step up on some of those comments, my two readers. You can send e-mails too: I do read them eventually. And if you have any requests, send them along, and I'll see what I can do, within reason (I will not kill a homeless man for the money I would need to buy any Silkk Tha Shocker album. I'm sorry, but I can't let that be on my conscience again).

-Max

(I'm serious about those comments, folks.)

  1. Hey Max,
Been reading your reviews for awhile now and I'm really enjoying it. In fact, when I first stumbled across the blog I spent a lot of hours going back through and reading all the posts.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know a few of those YouTube links are popping up 404 errors when you click on them. Looks like they're trying to link to http://www.blogger.com/%3Cobject for some reason.

Looking forward to you continuing the Wu-Tang reviews.

  5. What up, Max? I see you're on to "The Signal" and "Pineapple Express", too. The "Foot Fist Way" doesn't really interest me as much, though. Have you seen "He Was A Quiet Man", "Civic Duty" or "Right At Your Door" yet?

    One.
