An Extraordinarily Brief Commentary On Slim Thug's New Single, "I Run"

Here's a short post to (hopefully) tide some of you two over while I get my shit together. While driving to work, I heard a song called "I Run" by Houston-based rapper Slim Thug, who apparently has a new album coming soon (here's a link to the video, although a viewing is not necessary to understand this post), and I was both amused and appalled by his inspiration.

That shit is hood, son! Although I believe"Space Age Love Song" to be far more gully.

I'll try to put up an actual write-up by the end of the week.

  2. I've made no secret of my love for 80's new wave. Flip through the blog to see some more examples. The comment about "Space Age Love Song" is 100% true, by the way, not to mention the fact that it's a better song.

  3. I was only joking (about your incompetence, not about my admiration of Flock of Seagulls ;))

My guess, though: If you were to make a list of the most improbable samples in hip hop songs, that one wouldn't even be near the top 10.
