What's Happening With The Site Now?

So 2018 is clearly off to a great start, judging by the number of posts I’ve managed to run so far this month. It wasn’t my intention to leave Gems From The Equinox at the top of the home page for this long (although I still think you all should listen to it and maybe throw some money at it), but it’s not like life shit ever really goes away, right?

In response to that, and in an effort to maintain the few readers that have stuck around for some reason, I’m going to try something that I haven’t done in a very long time: another stunt month. For the month of February, my goal is to publish one write-up every single day. No articles, no “songs for my mixtape” stuff, no writing out of current playlists: actual album reviews. Yeah, I’m aware that February is historically the shortest month of nearly any given year, but I need to start somewhere, and twenty-eight album write-ups will be more than I’ve been able to manage for a while.

Unlike the other times I’ve approached this, I don’t plan on incorporating any sort of underlying theme, so don’t expect to see twenty-eight white rappers in a row. The only restriction I plan on giving myself is to not repeat artists or groups, so hopefully this stunt will help me chop a vast swath of projects off of my “finish what I started” goal, which is much further off in the distance than I would have liked ten years ago, but hey.

Because I plan on monopolizing the space next month, there will not be any Reader Reviews running, either. Those of you who have submitted, I appreciate your patience, and please check your inboxes, in case I’ve sent requests for rewrites or clarification.

I’ll be back in a few days, so stay tuned, I guess? You can leave your comments and requests below, but please keep in mind that I’m trying to cross a finish line eventually, so adding new artists to the list isn’t my best course of action. That said, do whatever you want. Tell your friends that know how to read.

  2. No underlying theme, huh. Any chance for non Hip-hop album reviews? Loved the occasional off-the-path reviews back in the past.

    1. Can't guarantee that at this time, but I'll take it under advisement.

    2. If so, how about Black Messiah by D'Angelo?

    3. As I've never written about any other D'Angelo project, the odds of this happening in February are pretty slim, I gotta say.

  5. Are you going to be doing DAMN? Revival?

Apart from those, I notice that your site doesn't have any reviews of Canadian emcee K-Os (Exit, Joyful Rebellion, Atlantis: Hymns for Disco, Yes!). This seems like an oversite worth fixing. I'd certainly love to see a review of Joyful Rebellion in particular.

  6. Oh, and also how about Desire and P.T.S.D. by Pharaohe Monch. And Organized Konfusion's debut album.
