The Twelve Days of Wu-Mas 2021 - Day #1

Followers of this here blogging project are aware that I've been running with a very specific theme for the past few holiday seasons: the Wu-Tang Clan. As opposed to what I used to do, which was running Wu content whenever the hell I felt like it because my old-school Wu stannery knew no bounds, I've chosen to challenge myself, posting about the group and their sprawling, ever-increasing membership numbers only during that time when many of us are celebrating various holidays with our friends and families generally trying to make it to the next year with our sanity intact. Or maybe you don't do any of the holiday shit and are just on the lookout for some good music to listen to and/or read about. It's worked out well so far, and 2021 was yet another shit year thanks to our ever-evolving lord and savior COVID-19, so let's run with this again, huh?

For day number one, I've chosen to gift everyone with a mix that was technically released earlier this year, but originally as an exclusive (sort-of) on the Patreon feed (and in the RandoMax Radio feed, if you follow that, and you definitely should be following that). You may recall that many of 2020's Wu-Tang mixes consisted of various songs from the Clan and their affiliates - some you knew very well, others you may have forgotten entirely - and in August of this year I hit you with a compilation of what I felt were the best twenty tracks from those mixes at the time. (If I had to re-record it today, it would be wildly different. Such is life.) That mix, linked here, featured the proper Wu-Tang Clan throughout, and limiting it to just twenty tracks wasn't easy, but that's part of the challenge for me.

But what about the other guys? The ancillary members of the Clan, the folks who float around in their orbit but only make direct contact once in a blue moon? My Patreon mix focused solely on those guys, the artists "on the outside looking in", to quote my August self, as I hand-selected some bangers from last year's mixes that featured the Wu-Tang B-teamers in starring roles (with a few Clan members bursting through the walls, Kool-Aid Man-style, just because they can). I also included a few tracks that didn't originally appear in the holiday run last year, as I want you to have a different experience with today's mix - 2021 was a motherfucking nightmare, you both deserve it.
